Safety Tips for Transactions
Meet in a Public Place
Meet at a well-lit, public location like a grocery store parking lot, police station, or community center. Many police stations have designated "safe exchange zones" for online transactions.
Inspect Before Paying
Always inspect the item in person before handing over money. For vehicles: start the engine, check all systems, test drive if possible. For gear: test functionality.
Use Traceable Payment
Pay with Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or another traceable digital payment. Avoid cash for large transactions. Never wire money or send gift cards.
Trust Your Instincts
If something feels off — the price is too good to be true, the seller pressures you, or they want to transact off-platform — walk away.
Bring Someone With You
Especially for high-value items like vehicles, bring a friend or family member to the meetup.
Verify Vehicle Details
For vehicles: check the VIN matches the title, verify registration, and consider a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic.
If Something Goes Wrong
- Contact your payment provider (Venmo, PayPal, bank) to dispute the charge
- File a police report for fraud, theft, or threats
- Report the user on WorkCamp Market so we can investigate their account
- Small claims court may be an option for disputes under your state's limit
WorkCamp Market is a listing platform and is not a party to transactions. We can investigate accounts for TOS violations but cannot mediate disputes or process refunds for item transactions.
